Top companies adopt waterways in cleanup drive

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Big business organizations are minding two rivers and eight creeks in the six provinces in Central Luzon under the “Adopt-A-Estero” program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau.

EMB regional director Lormelyn Claudio said three waterways in Bulacan have been lined up for proper coordination.

Environmental Inc. president Lawrence Ong and Pascual Laboratories plant manager Higino Porte Jr., adopted the Ugong Creek in Guiguinto and Balagtas with Libtong Creek in Meycauayan under the care of Rudy and June Mangarong of the Far East Fuel Corp.

In charge of Marilao River are the Zest-O Corp., Phil Recyclers, Vitarich Corp., SM Marilao, and Multi-Rich Foods Inc.

In Nueva Ecija, the barangays of Bitas, Nabao, and Aduas Sur, continue their cleanup of the Nabao Creek flowing through Cabatuan City.

Tunnel Vent Poultry Farm is assigned San Nicolas-Balas Creek in Concepcion while Metro Clark Waste Management Corp. nadles Matandako Creek in Capas, both in Tarlac.

Gina Lopez of the ABS-CBN Bantay Kalikasan will oversee the Bancal River in Iba, Zambales.

Claudio said San Miguel Corp. is expected to adopt Quebiawan Creek in San Fernando with TECO Special Economic Zone and five locators sponsoring Sapang Balen Creek in Mabalacat, Pampanga. PIA
