[ Manila Bulletin Online ] May 6, 2008

CEBU CITY — Expect well-paved roads in the province of Cebu in the next few months.

This after the Cebu Provincial government has earmarked a total of R324 million for the construction of new roads and asphalting of existing ones. The project involves 26 roads around the province.

The Capitol Bids and Awards Committee-Infrastructure has already invited contractors, registered with and classified by the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board, to apply for eligibility and bid for the projects.

Based on the records of CBAC, the biggest chunk of the budget will go to the circumferential road in Pilar and the Lanao-Biasong road in the same town in Camotes Island with a budget of R84.55 million.

The project also covers the Panadtaran-Tongo and Sangat-Lantawan roads in San Fernando, the Sangi-Guadalupe-Tulotulo road and Kalidngan (proper or church) in Carcar City, the Basak-Monpeller road in Sibonga, and the Candabong-Hampang Road in Argao.

More asphalting projects, worth over R30.94 million, are for the Daang-lungsod-Calangahan road in Tuburan, the Dawis to Triumpo and Ipil road in Carmen,  the Cabadiangan-Mulao road in Lilo-an, and the Sulangan and Cogon to Kabac roads in Bantayan.

Other roads to be asphalted are the Bala-as-Manlapay, and the Mantalongon-Dugyan roads in Dalaguete and Alegria towns, and the Valencia-Guadalupe-Monpeller and the Sangi-Dugyan roads in Alegria.

In Barili, a total of over R31.27 million have been alloted for the Balao-Bulak, the Balao-Pangpang, and the Lamak-Sitio Ungka in barangay Basak roads.

This includes the Poblacion-Guimbawean road in Pinamungajan, and the Libertad to Dalingding and Tominjao roads in Daanbantayan. (Mars Mosqueda)
