11 vie to develop Clark terminal 2

Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) yesterday said 11 firms have expressed interest on developing terminal 2 of the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) worth $142 million.

The bidding starts 2 p.m. on Monday at the Mimosa Convention Center inside Clark Freeport Zone.

Victor Jose I. Luciano, CIAC president and CEO said the DMIA Terminal 2 project is estimated to cost $142 million and can accommodate 7 to 8 million passengers annually. "To ensure transparency of the proceedings, the opening of bids is open to the public," said Alexander S. Cauguiran, CIAC executive vice president and chief operating officer, also the chairman of the Joint Venture Special Committee (JVSC).

The project is expected to be completed by January 31, 2010. Luciano said overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Northern and Central Luzon will benefit from the availability of international flights at the airport. -Genivi Factao
