CLARK FREEPORT – Clark Development Corp. (CDC) authorities are optimistic that exporters in the area will hit the $1-billion target after 95 firms posted over $454 million in export earnings during the first six months of this year.

CDC through the Enterprise Operations and Monitoring Department (EOMD) reported that the first semester exports surpassed last year’s level of $335 million.

Nanox Philippines, Inc. is Clark’s top exporter in the first semester with an export valued at $183.7 million.

Yokohama Tire Phils. Inc. placed second with exports worth $106.1 million.

Other notable exporters in the first semester are: L&T International Group Philippines Inc.; Smart Shirts (Phils) Inc.; Peninsula Fashion Int’l. Corp.; L&K Industries Philippines Inc.; SMK Electronics Corp.; Golden Stone Garments Inc.; Aderans Philippines Inc.; Key Gold Manufacturing Inc.

From the list of top 10 exporters, five are garment firms. They are joined by Japanese firms that are into electronics assembly, semiconductor processing and tire manufacturing.

Clark’s export industry has recently been noted by the Department of Trade and Industry to be one of the prime economic boosters in Central Luzon following a strong export performance last year.

The Central Luzon region usually ranks third among the 16 regions including NCR in terms of export receipts due to the presence of a number of economic zones in Subic, Pampanga and Tarlac provinces.
