CAINTA, Rizal — The implementation of a P15-million road-widening project here of the first Rizal engineering district of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in this town is in full blast and is expected to be finished by December.
The area covered of road widening stretches from Junction to an area in front of the Catholic church in the town proper. The length is some 400 meters.
Elmo Concina, Rizal 1st district engineer assistant, said that the fund for the project has come from the infrastructure budget of the DPWH, whose office is located in Binangonan town.
The project was made possible through the efforts of Rep. John Jack Duavit (1st district, Rizal) and Rizal government officials, Concina said.
Concina said the road is being widened by 15 meters so it can accommodate more vehicles and even people passing by in the area.
The implementation of the project was started last August, "and if the weather is good, we can finish it by December," Concina said.
Owners of the business establishments and residential houses had earlier opposed the project, but when they saw the waver from the Cainta municipal government, they dropped their opposition, he said.
