by RG Alama

Davao City (11 March) -- Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo del Rosario is eyeing the development of a coastal road network that will traverse the seaside areas of the province.

Up for development is the opening of the Carmen Coastal road that aims to build a road along the coastal barangays of Carmen. Governor del Rosario pegged the cost of the road network to be at least P50-P60million. The coastal road network will includes the construction of two bridges.

The Governor said the coastal road can open up the area for development as it is the highest point in Carmen poblacion, with a higher-ground the coastal areas are not affected by the floods that regularly strike the low-lying town, which is often referred as the catch-basin for the province.

Del Rosario said the project will be an expansion of the Panabo Coastal Road, which originally runs from Barangay JP Laurel to Barangay Cagangohan in Panabo City. The expansion will have the road network run unto Barangay La Paz in Carmen.

He said the province needs an alternate road network aside from the Philippine-Japan Friendship Highway which will soon be congested as the province grows.

The Governor said aside from Carmen he is also looking into the development of another coastal road network in Tagum City. (PIA)
