Developer welcomes resolution of DoJ

[ Manila Bulletin Online ] May 4, 2008

Real estate developer Nestor S. Mangio and his wife Marionnette hailed yesterday the recent resolution issued by the Department of Justice (DoJ), dismissing cases filed against them by a former Pampanga board member.

In the 13-page resolution released last Tuesday, Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez directed the acting city prosecutor of City of San Fernando, Pampanga, to cause the withdrawal of the informations filed against the couple.

The former board member, who had entered into an agreement for the transfer of ownership of his properties in Mexico, Pampanga, to the Mangios sometime in 1999, claimed that his signatures had been forged in the deeds of absolute sale. The properties have since been developed and now form part of the upscale Lakeshore Central Country Estates.

However, Secretary Gonzalez gave no merit to the allegation and reversed the entry of charges against the Mangio couple, citing the findings by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) that the signatures in question were "authentic signatures of the parties therein."

Earlier, Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman signed a resolution re-affirming the validity of the land conversion of the Lakeshore estate, settling a complaint alleging illegal conversion.

Architect Mangio, chairman of the Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC), welcomed both resolutions and expressed hope that all trivial claims against the Lakeshore property had been put to rest. (Nate C. Barretto)
