MAYNILAD Water Services Inc. has signed an agreement with the water distributor of BF Homes in Las Piñas City allowing the former to improve the community’s distribution system.
Ricky Vargas, Maynilad president and chief executive officer, said the agreement with BF Resort Village Homeowners Association Inc., BF Homes Inc. and their water distribution arm, Philippine Waterworks and Construction Corp. will help bring water to the residential and commercial enclave.
“Finally, we can bring clean, affordable surface water to BF Resort residents. We thank the local government of Las Piñas and the BF Resort homeowners association for making this project possible,” Vargas said.
Under the agreement, Maynilad will be allowed to construct and rehabilitate the water system.
For years, residents sourced their water from several deep wells operated by PWCC, or from expensive water delivery providers, which charge an average of P30 per drum and can cost as much as P1,800 per month.
Once Maynilad’s projects are completed, the company can provide the 10,000 households of BF Resort Village with potable water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 16 pounds per square inch pressure.
Maynilad’s entry would also displace illegal deep wells in the area, which would support the policy of the National Water Resources Board.
Maynilad used to supply water to BF Homes through PWCC, but was forced to disconnect the service due to the latter’s non-payment of arrears.
Maynilad had been negotiating for years with the subdivision’s developers who earlier refused to give the utility the right-of-way to connect the area to its network.
