PROPERTY DEVELOPER Robinsons Land
Corp. (RLC) is strengthening its mall portfolio in Metro Manila as it aims to
launch next year Robinsons Town Mall in Malabon.
The new shopping complex will be RLC’s
37th mall in the country, and is expected to serve the growing demand for a
so-called community mall in the CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas,
Valenzuela) area.
“Malabon is one of the most highly
populated areas in Metro Manila with more than 350,000 residents. It is home to
many small and medium enterprises including those related to fishing,” Arlene
G. Magtibay, Robinsons Land general manager for commercial centers, said in a
statement yesterday.
“Given the population density and the
relatively few malls in Malabon, we believe there an opportunity to put up a
community mall that will address the basic needs of residents not just of
Malabon, but even [in] Navotas and parts of Valenzuela and Caloocan, Ms.
Magtibay added.
The two-storey Robinsons Town Mall is
expected to be completed by the end of next year, another Robinsons Land
official said.
“Opening is in Dec. 2013, and
Robinsons Land has already started mobilization on the project,” Roseann C.
Villegas, Robinsons Land director for corporate public relations, told
BusinessWorld in a text message yesterday when asked for the development’s
estimated timetable.
Rising on a 23,000-square-meter lot on
the corner of Governor Pascual Avenue corner Crispin Street in Tinajeros,
Malabon City, Robinsons Town Mall will boast of a gross floor area of 17,104
square meters for over 250 tenants, and will be “substantially elevated” from
the street level to make the structure flood-free.
“Having the Robinsons Town Mall in
this strategic intersection will make it so much more convenient and
comfortable for people living within the vicinity to do their basic shopping,”
Ms. Magtibay noted.
Robinsons Town Mall will be anchored
by tenants Robinsons Supermarket, Handyman, and Robinsons Appliances, in
addition to quick-service restaurants, casual dining outlets, food kiosks,
boutiques, service stores, an amusement center, and a bingo center, the
statement read. -- FJGDLF
