Tourists and other visitors to the
John Hay Special Economic Zone are now assured of convenient and comfortable
ride to move around Baguio City.
The hop-on hop-off exclusive transport
facility was made possible through a memorandum of agreement concluded between
John Hay Management Corp.,the
implementing arm of the state-run Bases Conversion and Development Authority,
and the privately-owned City Trails based in Kamuning, Quezon City.
City Trails has embarked on a shuttle
vans project called Highland Trails designed specifically for tourists in
Baguio deemed as the country’s summer capital.
JHMC president and chief executive
Jamie Eloise Agbayani welcomed the tie-up with City Trails, saying it placed
John Hay closer to the reach of tourists and other visitors in Baguio.
“We are happy to be part of this
exclusive service facility that makes John Hay as a family-oriented facility
extremely accessible to the visitors.”
BCDA president and chief executive
Arnel Paciano Casanova said the hop-on, hop-off
transportation system introduced by City Trails would bode well for the
tourism industry of Baguio as this will allow increased mobility of tourists
around the summer capital.
“The more accessible the area, the
more tourists will visit and the more income for Baguio,” Casanova said.
The agreement enabled City Trails to
put up a ticketing office and parking space within the Historical Core area in
John Hay.
City Trails deploys specially designed
vans which tourists may take to go around Baguio. They may hop off in a certain
place and enjoy what the city has to offer, then wait for the next City Trail
van and hop on to go back to their respective hotels.
The vans operate from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
on Wednesdays to Sundays.
City Trails under the agreement will
help promote Historical Core and John Hay, through its flyers, informative
video materials in its vans’ televisions and verbal announcements to the
passengers.
